Dr Andrew White
A chartered psychologist since 2007, I have worked in primary care within the NHS, have been a clinical assessor and national clinical manager for AXAPPP, and have been in private practice for a decade, working with all the major insurers.
The most important aspect of psychological treatment is a genuine regard for, and liking of, people. Building a respectful, open and easy therapeutic alliance is the most crucial factor in any psychological treatment, and a bit of humour also sometimes helps. I have plenty of real-world experience outside the role of the psychologist, experience that has been a massive benefit to my therapeutic work.
I treat all the common primary care presentations; depression, generalized anxiety, OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, stress, adjustment disorder, etc. Although my doctoral thesis was researching men’s experience of psychological problems and their experience of psychological treatment, my practice has been equally divided between men and women. Indeed, everyone is welcome.
