Dr Mahwash Gaba

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and a qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner. I have more than 22 years experience working within the NHS in a Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team (in recent years in a leading capacity) where people present with complex and enduring mental health conditions.

I have gained valuable experience within the NHS using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and I am well versed in the use of third wave approaches like Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also work with clients who are emotionally dysregulated and help them by developing Comprehend Cope and Connect (CCC) formulations to enable them to understand their reactions and become more aware of their strengths. This increased awareness together with skills training helps them to manage their strong emotions more effectively.

My training equips me with various psychological models but I always get to know the person to find out what would be the best way forward for my clients.

I work collaboratively with my clients to help them acquire better understanding of their difficult ies and create a safe place for them to become skilled in managing their distress in an effective manner. We can all feel overwhelmed by life and at times just want a helping hand to make progress and create a life worth living for ourselves. I strongly believe that respect, understanding and compassion are fundamental to resolving most problems that people face.
